The International Team entered Friday trailing 3–2 and then won all five foursomes matches at the 2026 Presidents Cup, transforming the competition into a 7–3 International lead. Golf Channel notes it was only the seventh session sweep in Presidents Cup history, and remarkably, the Internationals have now swept Friday foursomes at consecutive Cups.

Exactly 65 years ago, Roger Maris hit home run No. 60, tying Babe Ruth’s legendary single-season record from 1927. Maris ultimately hit No. 61 on the final day of the season, but September 26 was the night he first reached the number baseball had treated as almost untouchable for 34 years.

Australia II defeated Liberty by just 41 seconds in the seventh and deciding race of the America’s Cup, completing a comeback from 3–1 down to win 4–3. The victory ended the New York Yacht Club’s staggering 132-year possession of the America’s Cup, dating to 1851.

Nineteen-year-old Zhang Zhanshuo won the 400-meter freestyle Friday to finish the Asian Games with seven gold medals. He became the first swimmer in Asian Games history to win seven golds at a single Games, winning seven of the eight events he entered.

Elly De La Cruz doubled in two runs against Toronto and then stole third for stolen base No. 30, completing the first 30-homer, 30-steal season of his career. He became only the fourth Red to accomplish it, joining Eric Davis, Barry Larkin and Brandon Phillips; he also became the first Cincinnati player with 30+ steals in each of his first four seasons.
